Please join us for guest teacher and special topic workshops periodically throughout the year. See below for topics, times and teachers. Levels are noted for each workshop. Wear comfortable clothing. Bare feet are necessary. Please do not wear perfume or scented hygiene products. Injuries and illnesses must be discussed with your teacher prior to any workshop. All props are provided for workshops held at Yoga Focus. YOGA ON THE GO - Open level
TUESDAY, JUNE 18 9:30- 11:30 AM MARLENE MCGRATH FEE: $40.00

In this workshop several short yoga sequences will be taught which can be practiced while at home or away, requiring minimal yoga props. One will be suitable for practice during or after traveling to improve stiffness and circulation; one will be suitable for practice after an activity such as gardening or hiking to address fatigue, muscle tension, and imbalance; and one will be a general well-rounded sequence. Handout with posture sequences will be included.

YOGA ON THE GO - Gentle level
TUESDAY, JUNE 18 11:45 - 1:15 PM MARLENE MCGRATH FEE: $30.00

As described above, several short yoga sequences will be taught for home or for practice on the go. The sequences will include support from the floor, wall, and a chair. Handout with sequences will be included.

BETTER BALANCE

WED. JUNE 19 1:30-3:30 PM KAREN UFER FEE: $35.00

Daily life is a balance, and to be clear all yoga poses are balance poses-standing, sitting, inverting and lying down. Working from the feet, through the legs, adding the hips and abdominals, and ending with the arms and shoulders, we will construct a series of 12-15 poses that work on improving balance. Sarvangasana will be included. No new beginners please but all levels welcome.

LEARNING THE ROPES
WED. JUNE 19 6:00-8:00 PM ALICIA ROWE FEE: $40.00

Yoga ropes provide support and stability while improving alignment and mobility. The awareness and confidence developed at the ropes can bring clarity and ease in all categories of poses. This workshop features rope poses for freedom in the neck, shoulders, hips, and low back. For students with 6 months of Iyengar yoga experience and familiarity with inversions.

YOGA FOR MENTAL CLARITY

FRIDAY, JUNE 21 9:30 - 11:30 AM ALICIA ROWE FEE: $40.00

The Yoga Sutras of Patanjalidefines yoga as stilling the fluctuations of the mind. Patajali outlines qualities and techniques to cultivate mental clarity including steadfast effort, observation of the breath, and directing full attention to a particular object or pose. An introduction to this classic text will be followed by a sequence of poses recommended by BKS Iyengar for brain health. Supported poses from all categories will be included. All levels welcome. This workshop supports the Alzheimer’s Association event, The Longest Day, June 21, bringing light and awareness to this disease. A donation of $5.00 from your workshop fee will be donated with a match from Yoga Focus.
