Please join us for guest teacher and special topic workshops periodically throughout the year. See below for topics, times and teachers. Levels are noted for each workshop. Wear comfortable clothing. Bare feet are necessary. Please do not wear perfume or scented hygiene products. Injuries and illnesses must be discussed with your teacher prior to any workshop. Special Topics February
A WEEKEND OF WORKSHOPS AT YOGA FOCUS FEBRUARY 8 - 10, 2019
All workshops are running this weekend. Except for POSES FOR THE UPPER BODY which is full, workshops are open for walk-in students.
Please join us for a weekend of workshops at Yoga Focus. All workshops are Open Level, but no new beginners please. You are welcome to take more than one workshop since the topics vary. Early registration is encouraged. Workshops must have a minimum of 8 enrolled students before the workshop date, then walk-ins are welcome.
SUPPORTED SPINAL EXTENSIONS
FRIDAY, FEB. 8 1:30- 3:30 PM, MARLENE MCGRATH, FEE: $30.00
The spine provides housing for the nervous system and thus, a healthy spine can provide improved energy by refreshing the nervous system. In this workshop we will practice a sequence of supported postures to stretch and tone the spinal muscles, fully expand the chest, and combat low mood and energy.
POSES FOR THE UPPER BODY (Workshop FULL - no walk ins)
SATURDAY, FEB. 9 1:30-3:30 PM, ALICIA ROWE, FEE: $30.00
Weight bearing poses that build upper body strength also develop mobility and stability in the wrists, elbows, and shoulders. This workshop includes poses and techniques to support joint health while toning the major muscles of the upper body. For students with at least one session of Iyengar Yoga experience.
TWISTS MAKE THE WORLD GO AROUND
SUNDAY, FEB. 10 9:30-11:00 AM, KAREN UFER, FEE: $25.00
This is a workshop of twist sequences with time for notes and questions after the workshop. We will work twists for neck and shoulders, ribs and mid body, as well as the lower torso. Twists bring relief for stiffness and improve the circulatory system. No new beginners please and no prenatal students. Please note this is a 90 minute workshop.
SALAMBA (supported) SARVANGASANA (whole or entire body):
SUNDAY, FEB. 10 1:30-3:00 PM, DAVID UFER, FEE: $25.00
Mr. Iyengar says in Light On Yogathat the importance of Sarvangasana can not be over emphasized: the supported pose benefits the entire body. Several methods of building up the pose will be taught using props to improve shoulders, torso and legs. One year of Iyengar study required. No prenatal students or women on their cycle please. Note this is a 90 minute workshop.
